Q1: What is CWC?
CWC stands for Chennai Weekend Clickers, an open and liberal group for photography enthusiasts.
Q2: What activities does CWC organize?
CWC hosts weekend local walks in and around Chennai, Travel walks, and Informative sessions on Post-processing and Photo review sessions, Zero dollar discussion. We also conduct book room sessions to enhance photography skills and also photography exhibitions.
Q3: What is a local walk and how is it planned?
Local walks are conducted every weekend Sunday and Saturday, we confirm the place before Friday and you can follow up the location in our Flickr, Facebook, Instagram post. Anybody can join the local walk by contacting the respective walk leads.
Q4: So how do Travel walks are planned?
CWC as a community believes in learning & sharing together. So, travel walks are planned among like minded people. It is as simple as that. We don’t believe in organizing travel walks & have some mentors/leads to organize it. It is always based on everybody’s enthusiasm for every individual. We get inspired from Master’s work & that inspires us to Travel.
Q5: Why Travel Walks can’t be planned as Local Walks?
Travel walks need 3-4 months of planning. From list of places, booking Train/Fight Tickets, Hotel rooms & local mode of Transport. So, generally members will be having discussions individually or in a chat to plan. As planning needs to be meticulous, it is not easy to share details ahead.
Q6: When can a Travel walk thread be created ?
Travel walk threads need to be created at least one day before the walk. Before creating Travel walk threads, Admins/Moderators need to be informed by the Travel Walk Organizer. Without the knowledge of Admins/Moderators Travel walks will not be Approved.
Q7: Who can join Travel Walks ?
Each & every CWC member can join travel walks. Members who have attended minimum 5 local CWC Photo walks can join Travel walk. If not, you have to wait!
Q8: Reason for “minimum 5 Local walk” ?
We are going to travel as a group and the group may contain more no of people. If people have come for minimum 5 walks, they will know other members in the group, group rules & most importantly will be comfortable together to travel.
Q9: How are the expenses shared for Travel Walks?
Expenses are shared equally based on the travel members.
Q10: How often does CWC hold photography exhibitions?
We take pride in our annual photography exhibition, which has been a tradition for the past 13 years. We have done 9 exhibitions and now are excited to step into our 10th exhibition this year.
Q11: Can anyone participate in the exhibition?
Absolutely! The exhibition is open to all photography enthusiasts, whether you’re a CWC member or not. We encourage everyone to showcase their creativity. But we have a separate rules for CWC member and non CWC member
Q12: So what are the Categories and rules for CWC members ?
There are 4 categories for cwc members to participate: Debut , Group project, Solo and Instafest.
- Debut category – This is for new CWC members exhibiting for the first time. A minimum of 5 attended photo walks is required to submit work. Submit a total of 5 images, with 3 selected for exhibition.
- Group project – For existing CWC members. Submit collaborative work (based on a theme) as a group with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 members.
- Solo project – Submit an individual project based on a theme.
- Instafest – 30 day photo challenge.
Q13: So what are the Categories and rules for Non-CWC members ?
There are 3 categories for non-cwc members to participate: Open Category , Solo Category and Instafest.
- Open Category – You are required to submit a total of 5 images, out of which 1 would be Selected & Exhibited.
- Solo Category – Submit an individual project based on a theme.
- Instafest – 30 day photo challenge.
Q14: How to share works for exhibition?
Every year before 2 months of exhibition we usually open a form to call for submission. You can fill the form and submit your work. Based on the category you can upload an album in flickr/facebook or in any photography social media app and share the link it will be sent to the curation process.

Q15: Are there any fees for participation?
Yes, we do have pricing options for exhibiting your artwork. Please note that in addition to the exhibition fees, participants will be responsible for covering the cost of frames. Below are the details of the exhibition fees:
- Debut: 5000 INR
- Open Category: 2000 INR
- Group (per member): 3000 INR
- Solo Category: Option A – 4200 INR, Option B – 8500 INR
- Instafest: 3000 INR
Q16: I am having a lot of photoworks/series done by me so can I submit multiple entries for the Open and Solo category ?
The CWC as a community is particularly welcoming to newcomers, providing ample space for debutants. However, for non-CWC participants, the curation of submitted photos will be influenced by the theme of the exhibition and the volume of entries received. Our priority is to showcase a diverse range of contributors, so we may prioritize featuring a larger number of individuals rather than multiple works from a single person. If there is a low influx of entries, we will notify you to submit, but only Open or Solo submissions will be considered for selection.
Q17: Can I attend the exhibition as a visitor?
Absolutely! We encourage everyone, even non-participants, to attend and appreciate the incredible talent on display.
